What is Vastu Shastra?
Vastu is an ancient science which deals with the construction of dwellings. It dates back to the Vedas. If houses are built as per Vastu principles, the inhabitants can enjoy a peaceful and a prosperous life.
Evidence suggests that many ancient cities like Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama were built according to Vastu. Many great palaces and temples in Indian have been built according to Vastu principles. Buddhist literature also contains references of buildings constructed as per Vastu. Many puranas like Mastsya,Agni,Brahmanda,Narada,Vayu deal extensively with this science.
The term ‘Vastu’ has been derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Vasa’ meaning habitat. It is aimed at achieving a harmonious balance between the five basic elements of nature namely Sky,Fire,Water, and Earth,in the construction of dwellings, for peace and prosperity of human being.Vastu Shastra is concerned with assigning a proper place to each of these five elements while constructing a building.
All matter and energy and all animate and inanimate objects in a building, have an inter-relationship with each other and are connected by electro-magnetic forces. A harmonious & balanced combination of these waves results in peace happiness.A house designed as per Vastu tries to create a positive cosmic field.
So, Vastu Shastra is nothing but the observations of the law of nature and their effects on human life and their dwellings.
This relationship and its use has been explained in the following text matter of the book.If any structure is built as per the principles of Vastu Shastra,it makes life happy, free from worries and diseases, bringing in good wealth and prosperity and mental peace is not disturibed.
